CALENDAR OF UPCOMING EVENTS FOR 2011- 2012The following programs will be Offered:

October 10th-- Marlene and Pamela Fernandez will present a outlining their book, “Beside the Still Waters”. The book covers the history of the Fernandez family in Estero.  They will use Power Point to accompany their presentation.

November 5th—Again, this year, the Society will participate in the Belk’s Charity Sale.  The sale is  from 6-10:00 am at the Gulf Coast Mall.  It’s a wonderful way to raise money for the Society. Belk is giving the Society coupons to sell to the public. The public can use these coupons on the day of the sale as money when buying merchandise at Belk’s. The Society gets credit for each $5 dollar coupon used. Phone Betty at 947 2346 for details.

 November 14th—2 PM., Matt Johnson, Director of Southwest Florida Museum of History will speak on the history of the Buckingham Airfield during WW II.  This will be especially interesting to those who are interested in learning more about Florida’s contribution during that time period.

December 7th—2 PM.,  A special date (Wednesday) at the Historic House in Estero Community Park.  Amy Bennett Williams, reporter and author will present and sign her just published book titled “Along The Caloosahatchee River”. 

December 16th—Again,  this year, our annual Holiday Luncheon will be at the historic House in the Estero Community Park. Tickets are $20. A boxed lunch (Chick Fil A) and special entertainment are in the planning stage. See Beverly MacNellis for information (239) 498-0678.

2012 Events will be updated as needed

January 9th our speaker will be Glenn Miller, a journalist with the News Press, Glenn will discuss the history of the News-Press since 1884.

February 13th Speaker TBA, subject will be the ESTERO RIVER.

February 20 Annual Tea/Luncheon at Pelican Sound Golf and River Club-Lourdes Price is coordinating event and additional information will be updated in the near future.

April 21st the Annual Pioneer Picnic will be held at the Historic House in the Park-- more information will be available soon.

July 4th our reading of the Declaration of Independence is scheduled on the deck at the Historic  House.
